Camano Island – Tuesday, July 1, 2014
We started with a very nice sunny day. The weather was just right in the morning, but as afternoon came it was up to 85 degrees F. . We enjoyed the Purple Martins at English Boom. At the state park we had good views of an Orange –crowned Warbler and a Pileated Woodpecker.

The best birds of the day were the swifts and the short-billed Dowitchers. We did enjoy watching the merganser family in the Stilli River with the babies mostly grown. Had lots of Yellow-rumped warblers migrating through. We were not able to go to Port Susan as they were having a work party.

We had lots of good bird sightings today—Enjoyed seeing the Greater White-fronted Geese both flying and in the fields. We also found the Cackling Geese with the Canadas. We saw both the Pacific and Red-throated Loon and the Western Grebes. The bird of the day however was seeing the Common Tern flying over the Bay.
