Great Backyard Bird Count

The 26th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) will take place February 16-19, 2024.

The GBBC is an annual four-day event that engages birders of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the globe. Anyone can participate, from beginning birders to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on one day, or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. It’s free, fun, and easy—and it helps the birds.

During the 2022 GBBC, birders turned in more than 359,000 checklists from 192 countries, identifying 7,099 bird species!
