Graham Hutchison led the group through Camano Island’s Iverson Point, Barnum Point and Elger Bay Preserve. The latter was new to most of us and a great birding location. The day’s theme was baby birds with great looks at a Brown Creeper feeding its baby, as well as young Purple Martins, Barn Swallows and Wood Ducks. Other nice finds were a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers, a flock of about 60 Great Blue Herons feeding on the flats, a Hutton’s Vireo and four flycatcher species.
