When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! After an hour ferry delay, we reversed our itinerary to drive straight to Sequim and work our way back. We hit the tides perfectly, finding five Marbled Godwits, dozens of Black-bellied Plovers, a few Long-billed Dowitchers and Dunlin, a Peregrine Falcon and a Eurasian Wigeon among thousands of American Wigeon along the Dungeness area shoreline. Other notable species were Brown Pelican, Pacific Loon, Horned and Red-necked Grebe, and Black Turnstone. We also made it on to the 4 p.m. return ferry.
