Trip Report: Virginia Clark Luncheon

Community and pie took precedence over the birds at the summer luncheon hosted by Virginia Clark. Close to 40 Tuesday birders and friends lunched on meatloaf, ham, potato salad, baked beans and 11 types of pie baked by Virginia. We were joined at Virginia’s home by Evening and Black-headed Grosbeaks, Hairy Woodpeckers, a Western Tanager, numerous finches and other birds at her feeders. In addition, a morning outing to Nakashima Barn worked up appetites and yielded Cedar Waxwings, Willow Flycatchers, baby Virginia Rails and a House Wren among others.
