The rain (and hail) held off until 2:30, so it turned out to be a pretty good day of birding at Blaine, Semiahmoo, Birch Bay and Lake Terrell. A Eurasian Whimbrel at the Drayton Harbor boat launch had to be the highlight bird of the day for some of us. Another was a huge raft of geese and ducks off of the Semiahmoo spit. We also were pleased to find Long-tailed Ducks, Black and White-winged Scoters, Eurasian Wigeons, Sanderlings, Black Oystercatchers, Harlequin Ducks and dozens of Black Turnstones, Common Loons and Pacific Loons.
