A large group of 22 explored the Samish Flats, Samish Island and Fir Island for late winter raptors and waterfowl. No success on the Prairie Falcon, but the tally did include Rough-legged Hawks, Harlan’s Red-tailed Hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Peregrine Falcon and numerous Bald Eagles. Other highlights were Long-tailed Ducks, White-winged Scoters and 2022’s first Rufous Hummingbird at Samish Island, plus Wilson’s Snipe, Canvasback, and an early Violet-green Swallow.
